I grew up in Germany in a city called Schwerin. After getting my High School diploma and having enjoyed my one year
visit to Indiana as an exchange student, I decided to come back to the US. I’ve now spend many years in Pinehurst, NC
and would consider it to be my home away from home. There I first took an apprenticeship and learned the craft of custom
club making. This has been an invaluable experience for me and I’m very thankful that I had the opportunity to do so,
not to mention all the help this has been for my golf game. I have also worked at several golf courses and really have
been spoiled being able to have over 40 golf courses here to play at and refine my skills.
Before I started to play golf at the age of 18, I was playing Tennis, Volleyball, European Handball,
participated in Triathlon’s and also enjoyed horseback riding. Every one of those sports have taught me many valuable
lessons such as endurance and patience just to name a few. When my Dad who is a tennis and triathlon coach in Germany
introduced me to this fascinating game of golf, I was automatically hooked. From then on, golf has been my life.
I have also been very fortunate and I’m extremely thankful to have the support of two experts in the game without whom my
dream would have never come alive. Most importantly this would be Mr. Bob Montello my swing coach and also Mr. Geoff Mangum,
an industry leader in putting. I’ve also had invaluable lessons from Mr. Craig Sigl and Mr. James Robertson as well as
Mr. Carey Mumford who specialize in the mental aspect. Thanks for all your help!
After graduating from UNC Pembroke in May of 2011 with a BS in Business Administration (concentration in Marketing) and a GPA of 4.0, I started my
professional playing pursuit by competing in the LPGA/ Futures Tour Q-school. Unfortunately, I missed advancing to the
second stage by 3 strokes, but it was a valuable learning experience as it unveiled the weaknesses in my game. I decided
that while continually working on my goal and signing up for Q-School again next summer, I would get a Masters
Degree in Business Administration (at ECU) in the meantime.
Balancing a full MBA class schedule with 2 part-time jobs and practice is quite challenging, but so far I've mastered
it quite well. Getting all A's in the Fall semester as well as making tremendous improvements with my swing, simply
means I'm on the right track. The aspect of my swing I've focused on especially is increasing distance. At the beginning of
this year, I've started hitting my irons an average of 10-15 yards farther, which is huge (especially since
this is what has been holding me back during Q-School)!
So what's next?
I am expecting to graduate from ECU in December of 2012. While on summer break for about 2 month, I will play in
my first few events on the Symetra Tour and get a feel for "what it's like". After graduation in December, I am hoping to
play full time on the Symetra Tour in 2013.
